Thanks, I think it is important to have as much as possible ported packages
to s390x even they are not supported by Novell and might be delived on an as
is base. I know from my work that we are always confronted with applications
that exists out in the Internet and suddently we have to support them in our
environment. And when I say, well that is nice but I need a lot of time to
produce all the dependent modules, I guess this will not be really an
convincing argument for the z/Series.

I read in one of my journals that Novell supports the building of packages
for software. However I don't have any details about that. Since I am not a
developer but rather an system engineer, it is quite difficult for me to
make soething which I could distribut on my images. So if there would be a
kind of service that hels in building rpms it would be extremly interesting
for me.
