You should be able to access the crypto hardware through the CCA libraries on System z servers running Linux.
It's been a while since I looked at it, but this page (http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/z/os/linux/security/) might be of use. I know that the CEX2C and CEX2A are both supported by the kernel device driver, but I'm not sure which release of RHEL has the correct kernel.
