It seems that you specified the dasd= parameter as a kernel parameter - not
a module parameter. In SLES11 the DASD device driver is a separate module.

Please take a look at the new distribution-specific manual  Device Drivers,
Features, and Commands as available with  SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
.'.  This book describes only the DASD modul parameter and not the kernel
parameter - the cause of this problem. .
