Except repairing a broken root LV isn't all that easy, even on System z, when
you don't have access to the contents of /etc/lvm/.
I've yet to run into an issue with repairing an LVM2 LV that requires
/etc. I'd be curious to hear of an example, since the only one I can
think of off the top of my head would be when you aren't writing LVM
metadata to all the disks in the VG and have hosed the only copy.
