Hallo Floyd, On s390 we have standalone dump tools instead of the Kdump mechanism used on other architectures. The tools are described in the "Using the dump tools" book that you already have mentioned. Normally people use DASD dump for FICON disks and zfcpdump for SCSI. VMDUMP with "vmconvert" (or "vmur") can be used for small z/VM guests. For dump analysis the tools "crash" and "lcrash" can be used. For newer distributions dumps can be automatically triggered through kernel panics, when /etc/sysconfig/dumpconf has been setup properly.
