Note that 'SET RUN ON' won't prevent the automatic logoff if the id is forced into a disconnected state. Only the system config statement 'Features Disconnect_Timeout Off' does that. If SET RUN was sufficient, then that feature setting wouldn't have been added. The purpose of SET RUN, according to the help "Use SET RUN to control whether your virtual machine runs while a CP-initiated read is outstanding at your terminal." You don't need SET RUN ON for a virtual machine to keep running while it is disconnected, but if RUN is OFF, it will stop when you reconnect - and with Linux, that is usually not good.
