Pat, A couple of things stand out in your test plan that I think you should be aware of ...... The DS4800 does not provide ECKD disks. The DS4800 is not supported for connection to the zSeries FCP channel. However, It is supported by a San Volume Controller (IBM 2145) and since the 2145 is supported on the FCP channel you could attach the DS4800 behind it. You could then present the LUN to VM and use edev emulation to configure it. See Redbook SG24-7266-00. I would suspect that the HP XP disks are also not supported unless they are behind an SVC. That is something you will need to check with HP about.
