This is an artifact of the splitting of the kernel packages into two, "default" and "default-base", in combination with the order RPM decides to install updates to them. When the default-base package is updated, the majority of the modules for the new kernel version don't exist yet. So, when the default-base post-installation script rebuilds the initrd, you'll see these errors. When the default package gets installed after that, the initrd gets rebuilt then as well, and those messages don't appear. > > Has anyone encountered these errors and what corrective action needs to be > done to eliminate them ? Nothing, really.
