sudo /sbin/dasdfmt -b 4096 -d cdl -f /dev/dasdX
  and
sudo /sbin/fdasd -a /dev/dasdX

  724 pvcreate /dev/dasdm1
  725 vgextend var_vg /dev/dasdm1
  726 pvdisplay
  727 lvdisplay
These displays show names to use and number of PE free, add these with
  --extents +nnn
DO NOT FORGET the plus + !!! Otherwise you got that size as total = currupted
if used
you can however fix it with a proper lvextend.

  728 lvextend --extents +527 /dev/var_vg/var_lv

if ext3:

  730 ext2online -d -v /dev/var_vg/var_lv
  731 df -h

if JFS

--- JFS method -----------------

while filesystem is mounted:

mount -o remount,resize /opt

mkinitrd + zipl !!!

Subject: Adding volumes to a VolGroup

Okay, I can't seem to find this via Google. I can find examples of
adding a disk with it's own unique mount point, but I need to add space
to VolGroup01.

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on

/dev/mapper/VolGroup01-LogVol00

                      5.0G 3.5G 1.3G 74% /

/dev/dasda1 97M 25M 68M 27% /boot

tmpfs 249M 0 249M 0% /dev/shm

I've formatted the DASD, attached it to the System, created MDISK
statements for the devices, LINKed them, got them "online". Now, how
do I add them to VolGroup01?

TIA,
