What option did you set on "TERM HOLD" on or off.
Thank you,

Hello,
Our shop uses:
SET RUN ON
TERM MORE 0 0
TERM HOLD
This is not a bullet proof method but it prevents most cases of
"Freezing" guest.

Samir,
I think that CP READ really 'freeze' the operating system on second
level.
Try configure #CP TERM MORE 0 0, for that this problem not happen again.

A computer that had a couple of vm linux consoles open had some
network
connection problems. The consoles had no network connection for a
while
and came in CP READ.
SET RUN ON is active on all our VM guests, but when the consoles came
in
CP READ the machines were stopped and there was no activity till my
collegues logged in on the consoles en answered the CP READ.
I wasn't in the office at that moment.
I thought that SET RUN ON should prevent a freeze of the guest in case
of
a CP READ. Has anybody any idea what the reason could be?
linux05:~ # hcp query set
MSG ON , WNG ON , EMSG ON , ACNT OFF, RUN ON
LINEDIT ON , TIMER OFF , ISAM OFF, ECMODE ON
ASSIST OFF , PAGEX OFF, AUTOPOLL OFF
IMSG ON , SMSG OFF , AFFINITY NONE , NOTRAN OFF
VMSAVE OFF, 370E OFF
STBYPASS OFF , STMULTI OFF 00/000
MIH OFF , VMCONIO OFF , CPCONIO OFF , SVCACCL OFF , CONCEAL OFF
MACHINE ESA, SVC76 CP, NOPDATA OFF, IOASSIST OFF
CCWTRAN ON, 370ACCOM OFF, TIMEBOMB IDLE
He weird part is I tried to simulate this issue on a test LPAR with VM
5.4
but there it works as it should. A console in CP READ doesn't freeze
the
system.
The problem occured on a VM 5.3 LPAR so I'll try to simulate the
problem
on the VM 5.3 LPAR tomorrow and update you on my findings.
Thanks in advance,
Samir Reddahi
