Thanks for the links / info guys. I have the IPL running with the "IBM" Linux
Still working on the networking, as I don't have my "own" Linux box at the moment (using web hosting), so can't use /tun device, unless / until I inqure about it. I'm trying to use CTCT back to my local box One rather annoying problem is that Linux comes up in the Hercules console, so have to prefix Linux commands iwth "!". But the major problem is how to enter a ctr-c/d, through that "!" mechanism. Probably a question for the Hercules lists, unless you guys know the answer ;) Mike On Thu, May 20, 2010 at 5:47 AM, Niels Horn <[email protected]> wrote: > On Thu, May 20, 2010 at 3:28 AM, Dan Horák <[email protected]> wrote: >> Mike Stramba píše v Čt 20. 05. 2010 v 00:47 -0400: >>> Greetings, >>> >>> Is anyone here running linux s/390 on the Hercules 390 emulator? >> >> for example I use it quite often >> >>> I've downloaded the install.pdf from >>> http://linux390.marist.edu/download/inst.pdf >>> >>> And was trying to combine that with ~8 year old instructions from : >>> http://linuxvm.org/Info/HOWTOs/hercules.html >>> >>> but haven't succeeded in IPL'ing the system yet. >> >> Are you trying to install Linux/s390 from completely scratch or do you >> want to install a distribution? >> >> My instructions for installing CentOS 4 are at >> http://sharkcz.fedorapeople.org/hercules/ (it applies also for RHEL 5 >> and should work for any Fedora/RHEL system) >> >> Somewhat out-dated preinstalled image of Fedora/s390x is available at >> http://secondary.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/spins/S390/ I am in the >> process to update it to more recent content we have now. >> >> >> Dan >> > > And instructions to install Slack/390 on Hercules can be found here: > > http://blog.nielshorn.net/?p=27 > > Niels > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, > send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit > http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
