Almost sounds like you don't have rw permission ...   What does your
minidisk definition in the directory look like - and what does a #CP Q V
DASD show from the guest?

If it is rw -- then my next try would be to do a CMS format of the
minidisk..   just let it run for 5-10 seconds and then 'hx' to kill it --
just wiping out the initial blocks can sometimes clear up confusion by dasd
drivers about the state of the disk.
