There is a new patent law. It changes patents from first-to-invent (FTI) to
first-to-file (FTF). I'm no lawyer, but does this mean forgetting about prior
art?

Lots on the Web about it, many saying it favors large companies who can afford
to file large numbers of patents.

So this filing may be a consequence of the new law.
