Thank's Alan, I have sent the info to a network guy here.
However the problems show up sometimes, not always, SNAP packages are getting
throw.
The problem started shortly after we changed the hardware (new z196 boxes with
new OSAcards)
And it now seems they stopped after network/intranet maint this weekend. Hmm...

So for the moment we just wait and see, there is no error to trace right now.
It looks promising so far, but we don't know why, and that is kind of
disturbing.

/Tore

If you can believe the OSA book, only OSE (LCS) chpids directly support
802.3 with 802.2 SNAP. I would expect layer 3 OSA connections on OSD
chpids to discard the frames, as it supports only Ethernet II (DIX) and
802.3. In layer 2 mode, however, the frame is passed as-is (with SNAP
headers) to the host.

I don't know what the state of Linux's ethernet SNAP support is. The
code in net/ethernet/eth.c that deals with (some of) this stuff looks a
bit hazy to me. Dunno. Alan Cox is the final arbiter, since his name is
all over the code! :-)
