> Does zLinux support non-IBM disk array storage? If you mean FCP-connected disk, yes, with caveats. There are "officially supported" vendors where the vendor has paid IBM to do testing and certification. In general, most FCP-connected disk "just works", especially if you put it behind a SAN switch that IBM does "officially" support. That isolates the disk from the Z, and as long as the SAN switch is something IBM has tested, it pretty much works fine.

They did tell you that you won't be able to use your current channel-attached tape drives, right? TSM on Linux doesn't support channel-attached tape. The Linux TSM code is far less efficient than the z/OS (and z/VM) TSM code was. Expect a fair increase in CPU usage. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For more information on Linux on System z, visit http://wiki.linuxvm.org/
