For file level backups: Commercial: FDR/Upstream Netbackup (somewhat supported; don't expect a lot of Z knowledge) Open Source: Amanda Bacula FDR is quite sophisticated, especially if you use FDR on z/OS. Bacula is the better of the two open source alternatives (and works very well for non-Z systems as well). For image backups (even though TSM didn't do this, you'll want periodic image dumps for DR): Commercial: DDR (comes free with VM) ADRDSSU (comes with z/OS) CA VM:Backup (if you have the VM: Manager suite, this is included, and other parts of the VM: Manager suite are worth the price) CA VM HIDRO (very fast) Keep in mind: image backups taken with Linux systems running are likely to be crap. You need a combination of file-level backups AND periodic image backups with Linuxen shut down and logged off to be certain of a clean image. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For more information on Linux on System z, visit http://wiki.linuxvm.org/
