Hello list,

I'm trying to clone a Linux and allow for the changing of the NIC triplet
(why? because I like pain :))

In this example, the SLES 11 SP2 golden image has a NIC 600-602 and the
target virtual machine is 1000-1002 - both connect to layer 2 VSWITCHes.

In /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 one line is changed on the new clone:
  NAME='OSA Express Network card (0.0.0600)' => (0.0.1000)

In /etc/udev/rules.d/, the file 51-qeth-0.0.0600.rules is copied to
51-qeth-0.0.1000.rules and modified accordingly.

When the new clone boots, I see:
  ...
  NET: Registered protocol family 10
  qeth.d7d19a: register layer 3 discipline
  qdio: 0.0.1002 OSA on SC 8 using AI:1 QEBSM:0 PCI:1 TDD:1 SIGA:RW A
qeth.7c6a37: 0.0.1000: Device is a Guest LAN QDIO card (level: V611)
with link type GuestLAN QDIO (portname: )
qeth.dd5c14: 0.0.1000: Hardware IP fragmentation not supported on eth0
  qeth.64421e: 0.0.1000: Inbound source MAC-address not supported on eth0
  qeth.747a65: 0.0.1000: VLAN enabled
  qeth.b8d2cc: 0.0.1000: Multicast enabled
  qeth.5c48c9: 0.0.1000: IPV6 enabled
  qeth.103fce: 0.0.1000: Broadcast enabled
qeth.69360e: 0.0.1000: Outbound TSO not supported on eth0
udev: renamed network interface eth0 to eth2
  ..done
  ...

Note the last message from udev - why would it rename eth0 to eth2?
Because then when the network comes up, it is looking for
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth2 which does not exist.

Any help will be appreciated.
