They have most of a B5500 in their warehouse (which is a total fantasy-land if you're a hardware geek), and are about to bring a working 4341 online. They just reanimated 6 Mw of 36bit core for the KI, which brings it to full configuration. I'm seriously considering passing my KA-10 and 360/65 to them. > But I first saw (and worked with) the Xerox Sigma-9 (and -7) Completely functional and online. I *still* hate the editors on that beast, though. > I did time-- at college-- with IBM S/360s and 370s They have a /40, a /44 and two partial /65s + most of the I/O equipment needed -- except for a card reader. They have a /20 as well -- weird, weird, *weird* machine, and the front panel from Princeton's 360/91. If you have hardware experience with those fellows, they'd really appreciate a call. They've also managed to get part of a SAGE terminal. Beats me how -- I thought those all got melted when SAC took them offline for national security purposes; they also seem to have a line on a 7090, and look like they'll be able to get CTSS up on it. Way cool. They also have just about every TTY device ever made, and a guy who spends all his time keeping them running in top shape. Thing that shocked me most: they have a 029 *in the original shipping plastic*. Never even unwrapped. I can't imagine where that came from, but .... wow. I'll second Gabe's recommendation. It's worth the trip. If you have stuff from that period, they're a worthy recipient. I'll also put in a good word for the youngsters doing the tours; they're *fantastic*. A bunch of 20-somethings that really care about this tech, and they do a great job in making it real to non-tech folks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For more information on Linux on System z, visit http://wiki.linuxvm.org/
