This white paper provides information about the performance of virtualized
environments when operated with constrained resources. A z/VM® based system
installation runs a set of virtual systems of different types of workloads
under Linux for System z®. Another aspect analyzed is the efficiency of the
z/VM paging subsystem when using EDEV-SCSI based paging devices, as opposed
to ECKD™ based paging devices. It highlights the behavior of the new memory
and CPU management introduced with z/VM 6.3.
