[UNIX "greybeard" chiming in]
One thing that's fairly central to the UNIX philosophy is that one can
change most anything in a system, configuration-wise, without having to
reboot. In that world, anything requiring a reboot, except for
wholesale replacement of the running kernel, is considered a bug. (by
anyone over the age of about 30, that is ;))
I have literally moved UNIX servers across town and re-homed them on
different IP networks without rebooting them. (the "UPS-in-a-van"
trick) That's a bit more difficult to do with a z, though, due to mass! ;)
