Per IBM instructions, our Unix group is going to open an issue with SUSE. They supposed to tell us which problem cause the guests go through a machine check handling routine.

No, but you might gain some insight into what part of the Linux kernel that came from by looking at the /boot/System.map file that corresponds to the kernel you were running. It's also possible that there are some messages in the system log/journal just prior to that error.
