I didn't say you had to buy something. I asked how you deploy new Linux servers on other platforms. This is about integrating Z into your existing IT processes. You can't change the Linux server deployment process without getting approval from a lot of other people, and doing THAT requires the buy-in I'm talking about. If they aren't using cloning today, they may have a good reason. I often hear: - The install process runs scripts that register the guest with <our security/identity management software> - Each new server must have the the latest patch level (so cloning only helps if you're building several at the same time) I'm just suggesting that before you start looking for cloning techniques, find out first if that's going to be worth your effort.
