All, IBM has contacted me to let me know that they have re-visited this change. Their performance team has now determined that mq-deadline is *not* any better than "none" as a scheduler, but it consumes up to 20% more CPU. So, we will be releasing another update to s390-tools to explicitly set "none" as the default scheduler. As before, you can change that on your systems, if you believe you have a good reason to do so. Please consult with IBM, however, just to be sure your workload is such that it would benefit from that.
