And, at the risk of boring everyone to tears, I would like to remind the list that
pcemu, available from my web site (URL below), can do a lot of this. It's a
software-only 8086 PC emulator with built-in debugger. The debugger runs `in hardware'
so it doesn't require any special support in the software being run, and has a very
DEBUG-like interface (which may not be a good thing).
I have run ELKS on it. It seems to work reasonably well, though the bogomips rating is
way off as you might expect.
