I've been subscribing to this list for a while now, and it's good to see
some discussion and traffic finally picking up! I like the idea of ELKS,
and I have a few ideas for the XT I have lying around, as well as the PCjr
that I've got. ELKS is the OS that I'd like to use, and anythingt hat keeps
me up with that is cool in my book. However, the email traffic is getting
more and more divers, and harder to filter out. I don't know who owns this
list, but could we have something like "[linux-8086]" or of the like added
to all subject lines somewhere to ease the mail filtering? I know this is a
tiny, insignificant issue, but it would make me life a bit easier,
especially with all the stuff my boss forwards me ;-)
Anyhow, onto my ELKS issue...
I downloaded and built ELKS on my P200, built like a charm with bcc. I
slapped it on a root disk, dd'ed a boot disk, and stuck them into my XT.
Much to my surprise, the XT booted! (No offense there; I was refering to
the 5.25" floppy drive differences) The kernel loaded successfully, and
asked for my root disk. I popped it into the first floppy drive and hit
enter. The kernel loaded init, and the machine froze. No errors, no
nothing. Anyone have a clue what this could be? Is it still because of the
floppy drive physical differences?
Thanks a bundle,
