It's possible be a HGC (Hercules Graphic Card). I have two of this 
monitor with HGC runing Windows 3.0/Windows 3.11 (second machine)

The MDA (Monocrome Dysplay Adapter) does buzzing if you try do put in 
graphics mode. (I have one too)
