The latest version of the kernel is 0.80. It should work fine on your
Amstrad PPC 512. I use an Amstrad PPC 640. However, for just
starting out, I would recomend using the comb or boot & root disk
images. A new set of disk images have just been made. They can
be found at:
ftp://ftp.ecs.soton.ac.uk/pub/elks/elkscmd
ftp://linux.mit.edu/pub/ELKS/elkscmd

Only if you want to compile your own kernel. The disk images
have a kernel on them. Try that first, then start playing with the
kernel.

The easiest thing would be to just copy the comb image onto your
720K disk. From DOS, you can use the "rawrite.exe" utility. Or
from Linux you could use the "dd" utility. You can then just boot
this disk and everything will go!
Hey! Since you're from Spain, maybe you would be interesting in
translating the ELKS FAQ into Spanish? There's already German,
French and Korean versions.
