Andre you missunderstood I do raid using linux software raid. but the two drives hand
off the Promise
IDE card.
I am aware that there is a promise card that does software raid of sorts but I do not
use it.
What I was trying to say is that the HTP366 is not stable enough for me two hard
drives one on each
channel for linux software raid1.
You are right I should stop being so cheap and get a hardware raid card but the
Promise Ultra66 works
(one disk on each channel) , note this is not the Fasttrack66 (the raid card).
I am happy with linux software raid.
I have tried the cards (tulip 4 port server card, ne2k pci and an isa vga card in
many slots but it
makes no difference.
I am not in a postion at present to take the server down to retry it but I did when
2.2.18 came out and
there where problems.
I have also not tried 2.4 but again I have to wait for an opportune time as this is
the only server at
work.
