What files do I need when installing from local media? Question I'm trying to install Ximian Desktop using packages that I've downloaded beforehand. However, whenever I try and point the installer at my packages, the Next button continues to be grey and I can't continue. What else do I need to make it work?
Answer IMPORTANT: Before attempting a local media install, you should make sure your OS is up to date. The installer will try to get dependencies from the Red Carpet servers if they are needed. If you do not have a network connection, the install will fail. Otherwise, the install will be much longer due to lengthy downloads of packages. You should atleast make sure that your glibc packages are the latest for you OS. In order to install Ximian Desktop 2 using local media, you need to download all the packages which will be installed, as well as a number of control files used to tell the installer what to do. Most of the files you need can be found on a local mirror. You should look up a local mirror to you at: http://support.ximian.com/q?154 Download these files from your mirror and replicate the directory structure completely: installer/products.xml.gz channels.xml.gz licenses.xml.gz installer/xd2-${DISTRO}-components.xml.gz xd2/${ARCH}/packageinfo.xml.gz ximian-evolution/${ARCH}/packageinfo.xml.gz redcarpet/${ARCH}/packageinfo.xml.gz xd2/${ARCH}/<all the packages> ximian-evolution/${ARCH}/<all the packages> redcarpet/${ARCH}/<all the packages> where DISTRO is either redhat73, redhat80, redhat9, or suse82 and ARCH is redhat-73-i386, redhat-80-i386, redhat-9-i386, or suse-82-i586. Point the installer at the directory where you put all these files and you should be able to install. -- Berhenti langganan: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Arsip dan info: http://linux.or.id/milis.php
