Mine was a Radio Shack PC-2, which was a handheld, equivalent to the
Sharp PC-1500. It was a 64K bit of fun. Next came an Atari 800XL, a
lot like yours except for the new white design, and it came with 64K.
By the time of my first XT I had spent a couple of thousand on the
Atari, a truckload of books, cartridges, floppy drive enhancements
(remember Sparta? I had the accelerator chip, SpartaDos, the 256K
upgrade, and finally a 1 meg MIO). MAC/65, Action!, plenty of the
Compute! books, a ton of stuff. All went to Goodwill a few years ago.

worked at the time, mentioning that computers were on their way into the
home. He thought I was nuts. Their hard drives were 3X3 feet. They had
just hit the 64K limit on addressable memory.
