Thanks for the research, Charlie.

It's always cool to learn something new...especially if it utterly
contradicts a lie you've heard so many times

Oh, this was a bad one. The system was unrecoverable.

I did

# ls -al /tmp
to look to see if the root directory was filled with junk
[A programmer was complaining that his machine was acting
all hosed up]

He was rushing me...and well, momentarily forgetting that
I ran the ls command from the / directory, I proceded to

# find -atime +3 -print -exec rm \{\} \;

about midway through deleting /bin....OOPS!

Ctrl-C stopped it, but it was waaaaaaaay too late.

it took about 6 hours to restore his machine (mostly because the
tape drives we had were so slow).

He then told me that he would *NEVER* rush me again while I was
solving a problem...

if you look into the thread
"Windows Owns Desktop, Extends Lead in Server Market"
you will know why youre really late. That one exists already
several days, and you will find that your "facts" just generated
a yawn. But you are probably too dumb as a wintendo-luser
to really use a news-reader, so you wont see older messages.

And if you really want to try to be the next "Chad Myers", so be it.

Boy, are you wrong.
In the EU (european union) exists laws, which make it theoretical illegal
to assemble yourself that computer. You have no measurement thereafter
to prove that it does not radiate harmful to other electronic devices.
You arent allowed to use that computer afterwards.

To base your argument that there is no monopoly on the possibility to
build yourself a computer is just plain dumb. Even if it were legally
possible in europe does not mean that a sizeable number of people
would even consider doing it.

I buy make my own because I have little interest in throwing

It's better to just buy the parts that YOU want and assemble it.
