And who holds all of the cards? Could I scratch myself anywhere near the windows OS or
.NET
etc if Bill and the gang didn't want me to? It's just tokenism to keep the very tame
politicians in their kennels.

Is this in reference to Linux or Java/JVM?

OK its simple--- theres more to computers than the desktop PC. Not
every machine needs to be able to run MS-Word or the latest 3D game.

Because Linux is a kind of Unix it has tons of software that runs on
it. This includes Oracle 8, DB2 and other high powered software.

Ever use an ATM? Does it use MS-Windows? No it does not. Neither
do a lot of systems you seem to think 'have no software'.

Yes. My idea is that is is a mistake to forget about rpm. rpm could be made to
sudo to root for certain users, but I don't think you want to do this. Normal
users can always use rpm to install binaries in their local directories if they
want, without getting root.

What the heck is the matter with rpm?

I have to address this before I address anything else, because I think this
is pivotal.
Marx was a monster. If you read Manifesto you will find:

1. Complete liquidation of private property
2. Loquidation of the family, introduction of "official, open mutual
ownership of wives"
3. Children taken from families are brought up by community (Hillary,
hello!)
4. Industrial armies, not employer - employee, (and that is from the guy who
LOVES proletariat!)
5. Central credit by central banks with total banking monopoly for the
State.
6. Age when children start working - 9 years of age (Resolution of Geneva
International Congress).

If this is not the most monstrous document in the history of the
civilization, please, state which one is.

This system was implemented four times almost totally - in Hitler's
concentration camps, Stalin's GULAG and Mao's re-educational settlements and
Pol Pots' Cambodia camps.
Partially - USSR, Red China, Vietnam, North Korea.
Superficially - Poland, E. Germany, Hungary, Mongolia, Czeckoslovakia

Why would Marx be spiining other than out of excitment?
Typical (I hate this word) socialist attitude - they all have aberrated
Marx. NO! THEY DIDN'T!
All socialists remain civilized untill they seize the power. Then the
Marxist bestiary begins.
EVERY TIME.

Your points are perfect examples of why everyone needs to first agree on
what "evolution" they are talking about before getting into a discussion
on the topic. "Evolution" has become so overloaded that frequently
people are actually talking about completely different things when they
are discussing "evolution".

Classic proponents of Darwinian Evolution, like Stephen Jay Gould and Dawkins
will DENY the presence of an intelligent agent in the evolution of life on
earth. The closest Dawkins will come can be found in his quote:

"Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having
been designed for a purpose".

Dawkins will allow the *appearance" of intelligent design, but will vigorously
deny the actual existence of an intelligent designer. As proponents of
Darwinian Evolution in the history of life, they are left with random
mutation guided by natural selection. They are so adament about this
that they have essentially created a religious doctrine based on the
randomness of nature as Creator.

We were out there.

IBM killed OS/2 in large part. The Workplace Shell was amazing (Still
more advanced than Explorer) but when originally shipped wasn't exactly
the most stable creature. Add to that the high cost of getting
development tools from IBM compared to MS and the lack of effective
marketing. (OS/2 Fiesta Bowl ?!?)

MS had a good FUD campaign going against OS/2 as well, and the combo of
all of the above just did it in. Shame. It's still around, but pretty
much in the same way Amiga is around- still used in niche markets. It
was a pretty OS: wish it was still viable.
