I have RH 5.0 and 5.1 on two alphas. Programs such as sendmail, ping,
and traceroute are having problems resolving a machine name,
mail.bullets.net(mail.bullets.net is entirely outside my network and I
have no control over it). I also have RH 5.1 and 5.2 on Intel and the
same programs have no problem resolving mail.bullets.net. Is there a
bug with the resolver libraries for alpha? Can someone try this on
their machine and see if the name resolves.

nslookup of mail.bullets.net shows the following:

%nslookup
Default Server: dns.kdsi.net
Address: 206.103.112.7

> set type=ns
> mail.bullets.net
Server: dns.kdsi.net
Address: 206.103.112.7

Non-authoritative answer:
mail.bullets.net canonical name = srv-mail-000.bullets.net
srv-mail-000.bullets.net canonical name =
dev-edge-000.bullets.net
dev-edge-000.bullets.net canonical name =
inet-000-seq-001.bullets.net
inet-000-seq-001.bullets.net canonical name =
ici-208-025-046-226.bullets.net
