Yes. Both my SS10s and my UltraSparc are headless.

No. My NetBSD port of RawHide (and TurboLaser and PC164) use nothing but
the serial port (although I did make sure that kbd/monitor consoles
actually work). The FreeBSD/alpha port was confused about serial when I
tried it for pc164- haven't tried it elsewhere yet.

I was really asking whether this was "known to be working" so that my
experiences with it (on pc164) for the out of the box RH5.2 Alpha where it
didn't work were just 'pilot error'.

I guess what I'll just have to do is try it the hard way. I couldn't even
get RH5.2 installed on the multia (couldn't find a console- even with TGA
and keyboard- but with SRM, not ARC, active). I guess what I'll just do is
take my old Alpha RH 4.2 system and clone it and lard it with more recent
kernels and check the code out instead. La.

Thanks. I'll report success or failure. And, gawd, it'd be nice if there
was a 'one kernel fits all' for Alpha/Linux. And yes, I putzed on ever
finishing the Linux/Turbolaser port (NASA/Ames is a 'NetBSD' shop- they
didn't say no, but they sure discouraged me....such is life).
