=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Turbo Vision (or TV, for short) is a library that provides an application
framework. With TV you can write a beautiful object-oriented character-mode
user interface in a short time.

TV is available in C++ and Pascal and is a product of Borland International.
It was developed to run on MS-DOS systems, but today it is available for many
other platforms (ported by independent programmers).

This port is based on the Borland 2.0 version with fixes.

Warning: the BSD-style copyright is applicable only to the modifications
brought by Sergio Sigala to the original code.

Happy hacking!

Subject: libungif & giflib 4.1.0 -- libraries to operate on gif images
Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1999 10:53:31 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

libungif-4.1.0 is a binary and API compatible replacement for giflib-4.1.0
that uses an uncompressed gif algorithm rather than the patented LZW
encoding normal for gif files. It is based upon Eric Raymond's giflib-3.0
release but has many bugfixes, an autoconf/automake/libtool build procedure
(for shared library generation on many platforms), and several new functions.
It is API compatible with giflib-3.0, but not binary compatible.

giflib-4.1.0 is based off the libungif tree, so it has all the fixes and
enhancements that have been incorporated into libungif-4.1, but it continues
to use giflib-3.0's encoding algorithm.

COMMERCIAL: 3-D accelerated BFRIS Zero Gravity Fighter Combat game
released

Aegis Simulation Technologies is proud to release BFRIS Zero Gravity
Fighter Combat.

BFRIS is a 3-D first-person vehicle combat game which is played in
enclosed arenas connected by teleports. The flight model incorporates
real physics down to friction, momentum, and inertia, providing a
complete energy state for combat. The commercial version of the game
includes six vehicles and 11 weapons/powerups, and comes
shrinkwrapped with Linux as well as Windows 95/98/NT binaries.
The TrueDimension engine used to create BFRIS was designed for network
play; the engine uses advanced predictive dynamics and supports
up to 63 players on a LAN or up to 24 on 28.8 modems in a single game.

BFRIS requires 3-D accelerated OpenGL (via GLX on Linux platforms;
BFRIS has been tested with 3Dfx Voodoo/Voodoo2/Voodoo Rush cards under
Linux); a three level playable demo is available for download from our
web pages.

For more information including news, downloads, a FAQ list, and
ordering information, please visit our web pages at

Subject: Leafnode-1.9 -- news server for small sites
Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1999 10:57:26 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

I am happy to announce leafnode-1.9 which has been uploaded to
        ftp://wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de/pub/leafnode-1.9.tar.gz
and
        ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/incoming/Linux/leafnode-1.9.tar.gz
Leafnode is a news server for small sites which is very easy to install
and maintain.

Leafnode-1.9 has the following improvements over 1.8.1 (for full blurb
see http://wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de/~krasel/ln.changes.html):

* lots of bugfixes everywhere (thanks to all the beta testers who kept me
  busy :-)
* installation now via GNU autoconf
* new program applyfilter
* newsq now in C (newsq.pl is still distributed but not installed by default)
* fetch:
  - new -P flag (post only)
  - timeout_short, timeout_long and timeout_active are configurable
  - create_all_headers is back (optional, switched off by default)
  - maxbytes now really checks for bytes
  - hopefully a little faster (not much yet, but I am working on it)
  - filterfile now allows empty lines and comments
* nntpd:
  - domain part of message id is now configurable
* texpire:
  - groupexpire now understands glob(1) wildcards

Many thanks to all the users who provided hints, tips, bug reports, comments
and patches. If your patch is not present in this version, don't worry; I
have not forgotten it.

Leafnode also has a home page at
        http://wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de/~krasel/leafnode.html
and there is a leafnode mailing list; to subscribe, send mail with
"Subscribe" in the Subject: header to
        [EMAIL PROTECTED]

And here is the lsm entry:

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

txt2pdf is a very flexible PERL5 program. It's a converter
from text files to PDF format files.

Why do I need txt2pdf?
Most of your documents are text files (eg HTML, C source,
C++ source, PERL source, DB data, ...)
txt2pdf is a PERL5 script, so you can use it in every operating
systems supported by PERL5 (ANFACE tested it on many
Unix boxes and on '95 box with ActiveState's build of Perl for
Win32)
txt2pdf is a native converter, you don't need to pass through
PostScript format
txt2pdf is specific for text to PDF conversion, so
  you can mark yellow, red, green or bold, italic (with PERL
  regular expression) words in the produced PDF files
  you can produce a 2-columns PDF
  you can add page number in every page
  you can add text at the beginning and at the end of every file
With txt2pdf_opt all the options are line options, so you can
  use all the features of txt2pdf with your cgi-bin
the fee for every license is only $10
ANFACE Software is going to give you a free license for every
good idea or for every good modify

Where can I find it?
http://fly.to/anface
or
http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/4794/

What are the new features in this release?

Added recursive option using File::Find module
Added match option. Now you can select the files you want find with recursive
option (e.g. *.pdf, a?.*)
Added blue color
Added A5 paper format
Now multiple file selection with metachars (e.g. *.txt) works correctly
(suggestion by Charles Wilt)

Enjoy it!

In the last few months, the traffic on the linux-kernel list

distraction in debugging the kernel.

In order to alleviate this problem and to give the 'off-topic
folks' their own home, 3 new mailing lists have been created:

- - [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
        Writing, proof-reading and discussing the kernel
        documentation. This is also where newbies should
        go if they can't find the documentation (not being
        able to find documentation is, after all, a lack
        of documentation).
- - [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
        Long-term OS design, feature drooling and generic
        OS science fiction. Everyone is welcome to think
        about the future of the Linux system (and the kernel
        in particular). Discussions should only move to
        linux-kernel as soon as we reach the debugging stage.
- - [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
        GPL, BSD, Artistic, LGPL, MPL, QPL, PD, etc...
        It's a jungle out there, a legal jungle. Make sure
        you (and others) don't get lost in it. Help map out
        the legal jungle or find out your own (in)abilities

You can subscribe to any one of those lists by sending a message

1). Where can I get it?

GNU Classpath 0.00 can be downloaded from:

ftp://alpha.gnu.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu/classpath-0.00.tar.gz

2).  What is included?

The following java packages are supported:
   -- java.beans
   -- java.io
   -- java.lang
   -- java.lang.reflect
   -- java.math
   -- java.net
   -- java.security (partial and non-functioning)
   -- java.security.acl
   -- java.security.interfaces
   -- java.util

This is enough to run many non-awt programs. Not all classes and methods
are implemented in this release, but most are. The major missing piece
of core functionality is java.text. Many of the implemented classes are
already up to the Java 1.2 spec.

3). What is required to build/install/run?

GNU Classpath requires that Japhar 0.07 be installed. Information on
obtaining Japhar is available from http://www.japhar.org/. A working
C compiler is also required. You will need the Sun JDK installed if you
elect to recompile the Java classes.

4).  What platforms are supported?

GNU/Linux is the only platform that has been tested. We plan to
eventually support many others.

5). Who should use this software?

This is a development release only. You should only install it if you
are interested in Classpath development or reporting bugs. We appreciate
both. You might also be interested if you enjoy installing random alpha
software.

6). Where do I go for more information?

The project has a web page at

http://www.classpath.org/

and

http://www.gnu.org/software/classpath/classpath.html

Information on our mailing list is available at the web site.

Lars Wirzenius
    loudly resents

        a Linux Documentation Project
            production

                of the least selling book
                    by the same name

                        the Linux System Administrators' Guide 0.6.1
                            just when you thought your system was safe

                    starring Super User as Mr. Root

                introducing Lasu as Luser

            special effects by Don Knuth and Leslie Lamport

        music by Crash and Burn

    coming soon to an http://www.iki.fi/liw/linux/sag/ near you

Yes, it's that time of the year again, when Lasu thinks he's an
author! The new version features a conversion to DocBook (instead of
LaTeX), with lots of exciting formatting and spelling bugs for readers
to report, and Debian binary packages! Get your copy today, while the
supplies last! Two for the price of one! No system crash is complete
without the SAG!

                        -x-X-x-

Table of contents:

     * Introduction
     * Overview of a Linux System
     * Overview of the Directory Tree
     * Using Disks and Other Storage Media
     * Allocating disk space
     * Memory Management
     * Boots And Shutdowns
     * init
     * Logging In And Out
     * Managing user accounts
     * Backups
     * Keeping Time
     * Measuring Holes
     * Glossary (DRAFT)
     * References
     * Index

The files are:

        sysadmin-guide-0.6.1.tar.gz             source code
        sysadmin-guide-0.6.1-html.tar.gz        HTML
        sysadmin-guide-0.6.1.ps.gz              Postscript

Most people will probably only need to download the PS version.
It is all you need if you have a PS printer. (Beware, though: I haven't
tried printing this. Waste of dead trees to test anything.)

No text or DVI version is available, I do not have the time to produce
one. Don't ask me to. (I'll make one for 1.0.)

The SAG home page is still at <URL:http://www.iki.fi/liw/linux/sag/>.
All the files are there, soon even an unpacked, browsable version of
the HTML version.

As usual, feedback is more than welcome.

I plan to to call the next version 1.0. It'll follow the grand tradition
of version 1.0 being _almost_ useful, but still crashing your system. :)
