=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
I maintain the site:
http://www.angband.org/linux
it's a simple page trying to inform people about the different
distributions of linux out there. the only problem is that it is in need
of a drastic update.
i had to sell my computer recently because of financial needs (damn
tuition!), so i haven't had the chance to play around with any of the
new releases. i would really appreciate it if people who have installed
and used the new releases, send me some feedback.
you can e-mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
please submit your e-mail in the following format so i can organize it
easily:
Subject: <distribution version> (e.g. RedHat 5.2)
message body:
pros: blah blah blah.
cons: blah blah blah.
comments: blah blah blah.
if you have any particular rant that you want posted, let me know and
i'll put it up there for you.
as usual, i will properly credit anyone who sends me feedback. then
again, please don't take it the wrong way if i don't put your comments
up there, there is only so much information i can put on one webpage
regarding a particular distirbution.
hopefully, if i get enough feedback in time, i will update the webpage
by the beginning of march.
once again, thanks.

Subject: lpe-1.0 - a console-mode text editor
Date: Sat, 20 Feb 1999 02:12:45 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Lpe is a very lightweight editor designed for programming but usable for
plenty of other things. Its characteristic trademarks are an almost
complete lack of extraneous "flashy" features, a unique "edit the source
code" method of customization, and a minimalist feel that I find very
appealing. It's also designed to run on a very wide variety of terminal
types without glitches and be as robust as possible. And if you're into
distribution disks, the stripped binary is less than 20K in size. Lpe
supports localized messages in either English or Russian as a
compile-time option, and translations to other languages are really easy
to do and are being actively solicited.
For all you lpe users who may have felt left out for a month or two, I
now have version 1.0 available! In traditional lpe style, there aren't
a lot of changes because there isn't a lot to the program anyway... most
of them relate to cleaning up the code and build system and fixing a few
stupid mistakes on my part. More importantly though, this release is
the result of quite a bit of testing and housekeeping, and is my
personal certification that you probably won't die or suffer other
horrible fates if you use lpe.
You can get lpe by anonymous FTP to walker2-74.reshall.ou.edu in the
'lpe' subdirectory.
