It is similar to the "MegaMan" series of games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo, PlayStation and DOS. The game uses X-lib for graphics, SDL (Simple Direct-Media Layer) for sound and music under Linux, and supports a joystick controller. The game is still under development, but the first four levels are available. I encourage you to download it and try it out. It has been tested and runs well on both a Pentium 133Mhz and a Pentium (II?) 233Mhz machine running Linux 2.0.34. Your comments and feedback will help decide what goes into the final version. To do this, you must travel the globe and defeat eight evil bosses to get access to the evil force, wherever it is hiding. As you defeat these bosses, you also gain special weapons and abilities. THE GAME ======== Level-Selection Screen ---------------------- When you start a new game, you'll see the level-selection screen. There are 9 rectangles on the screen (three by three) and a pulsating selection cursor. At this screen, you choose which part of the world (hence, which boss) you wish to travel to. You can select any of the 8 outer levels. The center box represents the evil force's level. You cannot get to that level until you've beaten the 8 other levels. Game Screen ----------- The game is seen from the side. You are the little monkey (BoboBot). You can walk, shoot and jump by using the arrow keys or the joystick. Typically, you go towards the right, from screen to screen, but sometimes you are required to go up, drop down, or go left to proceed. Using Your Weapon(s) -------------------- BoboBot can have up to 9 weapons. The first is your standard bullet. You start with this weapon, and never run out of ammunition.
