=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

I am proud to announce KStock version 1.0 Beta.

that holds these informations and opens a small window
containing a scroll-text with stock prices.

[Requirements:] KStock requires the KDE 1.0 libraries & QT 1.4 libaries
installed as well as the KDE developement kit,
because KStock is only available as source yet.

[Where to get:] http://uhura.biologie.uni-freiburg.de/~drabiger

Please note that KStock is still beta. You need to make a configuration
yourself. (No default configuration supported yet)

I will gladly process all bug-informations mailed to me:

Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 14:21:28 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Last year, AT&T Labs introduced the DjVu (http://www.djvu.att.com) image
compression technology, which can compress high-resolution scanned documents 5
to 10 times better than JPEG. AT&T Labs is now releasing the source code of
the DjVu Reference Library (http://www.djvu.att.com/open) under the AT&T
Source Code License. The release includes the entire decoder, a big piece of
the encoder, several utilities, and several software components such as a
wavelet-based image compressor, the world's best arithmetic coder, and a
portable thread library. Enough stuff to make a nice Gimp plug-in.

AT&T is also releasing a lot of new downloadable DjVu software in binary form
for Linux, Windows, and various Unix flavors: version 2.0 of the Djvu plug-in
(which handles hyperlinks and multipage files), the DjVu Editor (a GUI tool
for adding hyperlinks to DjVu images), and the DjVu compressor and SDK v2.0
for Linux, Solaris and Irix.

Subject: MyC - VB-like C API wrapper for MySQL
Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 13:59:44 GMT
Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

MyC is a set of simple C routines intended to make programming applications for
use with the MySQL database engine a bit easier, especially for those familiar
with Microsoft's DAO engine model (used with Microsoft Access and Microsoft
Visual Basic).

MyC uses a similar model to access data within a database - OpenDatabase to
open a database, OpenRecordset to open a result set, Move routines to move
around within the result set, and AddNew/Edit and Update/Delete to add, edit or
delete data within the database. For example, a C program to dump all the
records in a table to stdout in tab-delimited format takes only 18 lines,
total, of C (sample code is provided).

Although the wrapper was written in C for Linux, it should work with almost any
reasonable UNIX variant. Source code is provided, and the licensing structure
is the same as the MySQL database.

MyC is currently in ALPHA testing now - I am looking for folks to beta test it.
Sample code is included with the wrapper.

MyC is less than 15K zipped, including documentation, and can be downloaded
from ftp://206.138.229.65/pub/Software/MyC.zip

Bug reports are encouraged :)

                        New Copyleft License
                        ====================

Bowerbird Computing has released version 1.0 of the New Copyleft License
(NCL). This license is intended for programmers working on projects
that do not lend themselves to offering consulting services (such as
home user programes like games, genealogy programmes etc).

Hobby programmers and those able to offer consulting services should
use the GNU GPL/LGPL instead, as the code in NCL'ed works is not available
to GPL programmers untill two years after the release of the code. The
code is available for use, it just has to be licensed under the
NCL for the first two years, after which time the NCL expires and the
programme is then licensed to the user under the terms of the GNU
GPL/LGPL.

For a full copy of the license see:

http://www.bowerbird.com.au/NCL

Pinfo stands for Przemek's Info Viewer.
It is a curses based info browser. In use it is similar to lynx;
you can follow higlighted links and notes exactly as in lynx, when
browsing html files.
It's functionality (say, number of options) is not too enhanced now
(i.e. right now I'm about to add a search engine to this viewer -- so
it's not there yet), but it works quite nice, and comments which I had
from some people who already use it, contain good opinions.
And after all I suppose, that the main advantage of this viewer is the
ease of use.

It was written using ncurses on linux, but I've tested it on some HP-UX
machine with normal curses (there is a special switch in makefile for
traditional curses), and it worked well.

The program can be now found on
http://zeus.polsl.gliwice.pl/~pborys/
the acctual path right now is
http://zeus.polsl.gliwice.pl/~pborys/pinfo-0.2.3.tar.gz
but it's possible that when you'll read this message, there will be a
new version :)

Subject: Linux Router Hardware
Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 14:36:42 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Hi all.
Most of us have dreamed of having a linux router a size of 3 1/2 floppy
(and it would not be a palm pilot).
Calibri-133, is a compact, diskless, programmable blackbox.
The linux OS stored on high performance flash chip (DiskonChip),
boots under 30 seconds. During boot - up, the image is trasferred
onto Ramdisk.

Here are the specifications of the box:

CPU: Embedded AMD DX5-133 (5x86-133) processor
BIOS: AWARD 128 KB Flash Memory
System memory: One 72-pin socket (accepts 1 - 32 MB)
Enhanced IDE hard disk drive interface: Supports up to two IDE
hard disks.
Serial ports: 2 ports: one RS-232, one RS-232/422/485
Parallel port: One parallel port, supports SPP/EPP/ECP mode
Infrared port: Shared with COM2. Transfer rate up to 115 kbps
             On Board mini-DIN PS/2 kerboard/mouse connector
Supports M-Systems' DiskOnChip 2000 Flash disk up to 144 MB
             NE2000 compatible on-board ethernet interface. (10 MBits/s)
             Upgradable with PC/104 module.

What can you do with it?
It is ideal for use at home as firewall/router/NAT; connect it to your
internet gateway and you can have a lan of computers that can browse internet,
all in the same time.
It is great if you are working on a project, and want to have a low
profile programmable device.

For more info,
check out http://yulia.com/hardware/index.html

Your comments are welcome.
Thanks,
- -Jack

- -------------------------------------------------------------------

Billnet is a highly modular neural network simulator that currently includes
several algorithms. Some of these are experimental while others are well
known and already published. This release has already built in the following
algorithms.

Algorithms:
        back_prop
        perpceptron
        aleco
                aleco 0
                aleco 2
        rprop
        conjugate gradient
                Polak-Ribiere
                Fletcher-Reeves

Experimental algorithms are not distributed as source but only as special
binaries until they get published.

We have posted the i386.rpm, src.rpm, and patches on our WWW site at
http://www.affinity-systems.ab.ca/software/ for PKG+VER. These should work
on Red Hat 5.0, 5.1, and 5.2 but were compiled under Red Hat 5.2 and kernel
2.2.3

This is a collection of the basic tools necessary for setting up networking
on a Linux machine. It includes ifconfig, route, netstat, rarp, and
some other minor tools.
