=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Hi All,
Some of you may be familiar with the x86emu project, which is GPL'ed x86
real mode emulator that can be compiled and used with the Linux MILO
loader for DEC Alpha systems. The emulator that is included in the
current MILO sources, and what I have found on the internet (x86emu-
0.0.tar.gz) appears to be lacking in functionality in some areas,
specifically in the support for 32-bit instructions from real mode code.
MILO itself does not use this emulator by default, but rather uses the
Digital binary only emulator.
Since the emulator has a lot of uses on both x86 systems as well as non-
x86 systems, we have started work on updating the emulator to support the
latest Intel instruction sets. If there are others out there working on
similar emulators, this is a call to action to work together on a single
GPL'ed emulator.
I have attempted to contact the original author of the x86emu project
(David Mosberger-Tang, via the email address <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>).
So far I have not had any response, but I am hoping he will get back to
me eventually. In the event that David is no longer interested in being
the maintainer of the x86emu project, I would like to become the new
maintainer for this project (we can host the sources on our free Perforce
software repository).
So, if anyone knows of updated versions of this emulator please let me
know. If anyone else is interested in working with me on this emulator,
please also let me know.
Regards,

Subject: WANTED: SGMLtools maintainer(s)
Date: Sun, 9 May 1999 09:43:21 GMT
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
The SGMLtools project, regretfully, has been victimized by my overfilled
schedule lately. A new version has been due for some time now, a lot of
suggestions and todo's have been accumulating, etcetera. The project deserves
better than that, and as my schedule won't change in the near future, I'm
looking for one or more people to take over the project.
SGMLtools in its v2.0 incarnation provides a wholly new and completely
improved way of writing software documentation, based on the industry standard
DocBook rather than the "proprietary" Linuxdoc DTD. It consists of a number of
third-party packages, a Python front-end to these, and a lot of code to get
all this to install in a user-friendly manner.
If you're interested, visit http://www.sgmltools.org and fetch the sources
from the CVS repository (follow "Download" link). Also take a look at the
Development page, especially the To-do list.
Maintaining SGMLtools is quite a task, so I can understand if you're just
interested in taking over part(s). If multiple people want to cooperate, I can
envision people doing just one of these tasks:
- - Website maintenance;
- - SGMLtools Python scripts maintenance/development;
- - Installation scripts/autoconf maintenance;
- - CVS and Release work.
I suggest you discuss this on the SGMLtools mailing list, so people can team
up over there.
Skills needed:
- - Unix tools (make, autoconf, libtool, CVS);
- - Good Python knowledge;
- - Working knowledge of SGML and DSSSL;
- - If possible, C++ knowledge (for Jade maintenance);
- - Web administration.

from the same (see options -h and -b) or other files.
Thanks to Luis Villa <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for this idea.

Subject: fplan 1.4.2 - a flight planning tool for power pilots
Date: Sun, 9 May 1999 09:30:49 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
ANNOUNCEMENT
============
I am pleased to announce release 1.4.2 of fplan, a freely distributable
program for general aviation flight planning. Release 1.4.2 of fplan
contains a number of bug fixes for problems reported by users. It also
has an implementation of the graphical previewer based on the Gnome,
Gtk+, Glib libraries. This release should still be considered a BETA
release! All current users are encouraged to upgrade.
WHAT IS IT?
==== == ===
The fplan application is designed to assist general aviation pilots in
creating flight plans for cross country flights in powered aircraft.
It was developed primarily for use on systems running the UNIX Operating
System and the X11 Window System, with particular emphasis on Linux.
The input to fplan is a planfile that can be created with the user's
favorite plain text editor. A self explanatory language is used to
describe the flight; departure and destination airports, intermediate
waypoints, navigation aids, winds aloft, and fuel consumption rates.
The flight plan produced by fplan includes; wind corrected magnetic
headings, distance, estimated time and fuel consumption for each leg,
latitude and longitude for each checkpoint, and optional VOR fixes.
A graphical preview of the flight is available on systems with X11
Windows and the XView Toolkit.
For convenience, airports or navaids can be referenced by their ICAO
identifier in planfiles. The information that fplan requires is stored in
database files, indexed by identifier. For users in the United States,
freely distributable database files are available that were derived
from information from the National Flight Data Center. This data is
not certified for navigation, and should be verified before actual use.
AVAILABILITY
============
The latest release can be obtained from the fplan web site at
http://metalab.unc.edu/fplan/
MAILING LIST INFORMATION
======= ==== ===========
fplan is now officially a GNOME application. As a result, the GNOME
project hosts a mailing list for interested developers, users. The list
is intended to provide a forum for the discussion of fplan development
tasks and design issues. The list is open to all who would like to
participate in fplan development, contribute ideas or suggestions, or
simply lurk to keep track of where things are going. To join the list,

New in 0.3.1:
* Unofficial Linux/Debian package at:

* License change: additional clause to GPL, which permits to distribute
this program in object code or executable form although the QT library
is not covered by GPL.
* New menuitem "Record" with the same functions as in the right mouse button
popup menu because on some systems the right mouse button doesn't work.
* Changed default location of online help HTML documentation to
/usr/doc/pi-address/html/.
* Bugfix: deleting of all records of a selected category was buggy under
certain circumstances.
* Bugfix: incomplete category names in edit dialog if empty category exists
in between, e.g. after deleting categories in the Pilot
Have fun

Welcome2L intends to produce the best looking ANSI screens
