=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

IPTraf 2.0.0 has been released. This is a major release that takes
advantage of new features in the Linux 2.2 kernel. Those still with
Linux 2.0.x will have to stick with IPTraf 1.4.3.

IPTraf is a statistics generator for IP networks. This software displays
various network figures including TCP connection statistics, IP, TCP, UDP,
ICMP packet and byte counts, network interface load figures (both total
and incoming/outgoing), statistical breakdowns by TCP/UDP ports, and LAN
station counts and loads.

It works on Ethernet, SLIP, PPP, FDDI, ISDN, PLIP, and loopback
interfaces.

IPTraf is downloadable from:
ftp://ftp.cebu.mozcom.com/pub/linux/net/iptraf-2.0.0.tar.gz

and from Metalab (formerly known as Sunsite) at
ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/network/monitor/iptraf-2.0.0.tar.gz

The IPTraf home page is at
http://cebu.mozcom.com/riker/iptraf/

Hi all. The next meeting of the Kingston Linux Users Group will take
place at the Royal Military College on Monday the 5th of July.

The meeting topic will be TCP/IP Networking, or Networking Personal
Computers, or Building a Home LAN, or Farting around with Linux
Networking or something like that ...

I'm looking at doing some basic TCP/IP theory first, if there are enough
people that need the background. Then we can go on to actually building
a small LAN, setting things up by hand first (using all the important
tools like ifconfig, route etc). Maybe we can get a firewall up and
running too. We'll see how far we get.

Bring in your PCs if you want to participate. I'll provide the switch as
usual. I'll try to have a handout available but may not have it ready in
time. If not, then I'll make it available on the web site. The Air
Conditioning might actually be working too!

If you would like to have Linux installed on your system during the next
meeting feel free to bring it in. No promises though. If 10 people show
up with their PCs we won't be able to do that many but 2 or 3 installs
should be possible if they go smoothly. Let me know ahead of time.

For more info please check out the group's web site at

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Hi all,

on behalf of the Bluefish development team I would like to announce the
release of Bluefish 0.3.1. The changes are: a major bugfix for all
Gtk-1.2.0 and Gtk-1.2.1 users, some other annoying bugfixes, better
packaging and some user interface enhancements.

Bluefish is a programmers HTML editor, designed to save the experienced
webmaster some keystrokes. It features a multiple file editor, multiple
toolbars, custom menu's, image and thumbnail dialogs, open from the web,
HTML validation and lots of wizards. It is in continous development, but
already one of the better HTML editors.

Bluefish requires GTK and Imlib is recommended. Bluefish should run on
any POSIX (UNIX-like) platform. For general Bluefish comments the email
adres [EMAIL PROTECTED] can be contacted. For more info

Linux Consultants Support and Resource Center

This site's mission is to help develop a professional consulting community
by providing a centralized place for individuals to both learn and
contribute to the Linux consulting profession to further the understanding
and virtues of the GNU-Linux operating system

This site exists to spread the skills, demeanor and technology of
professional consulting within the Linux community.

Linux came about because of the cooperation of thousands of developers. It's
time for professional consulting to come about by bringing together the
best consultants in our field and sharing our resources.

The Linux Consultants' Support and Resource Center on its own doesn't exist
to sell products or services and collect money. In that way, it's not a for
profit web site. We have no current plans to offer or accept advertising or
sponsorship from another party.

In case you haven't noticed, the GNU - Linux community doesn't have a
professional service organization. Eventually, the global consulting firms
may set-up Linux practices. Today, the list of professional service firms is
bare.

To fill this gap, BCG is sponsoring this web site to assistant consultants.
We feel the need to provide high-touch, low tech tools for helping
consultants in winning business, delivering business, and building
successful relations with Linux solutions.

Thank you

ls/src Moderator

From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Ullrich von Bassewitz)
Subject: cc65 - a C compiler for 6502 based systems
Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1999 22:02:30 GMT
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

I'm proud to announce version 2.2 of CC65, a C crosscompiler /
crossassembler combo for 6502 systems.

CC65 has C and runtime library support for most CBM machines. The
libraries are fairly portable, so creating a version for other 6502s
shouldn't be too much work.

Here is a list of the compiler features:

  * Includes a C compiler, macro assembler, archiver, linker and a
frontend (compile&link) utility. The assembler generates relocatable
object files, the linker is very configurable and allows overlays,
ROMable code, splitted output and much more.

  * The compiler is not quite ISO compatible, however, a large subset
    is supported.

  * Supported target systems are:

        - C64
        - C128
        - C16, C116, Plus/4
        - CBM 600/700 family (programs run in bank 1)
        - Newer PET machines (not 2001)

For all these systems a precompiled runtime and C library is
available. Supporting more targets is not very difficult since the C
library was written with portability in mind.

  * Several system specific support routines like a conio library or
modules for joystick access are available.

  * The assembler and linker do also support the 65816 as a target,
however, the compiler is not able to generate code for this CPU and
    there is no RTL support.

  * Lots of docs and a few sample programs included.

  * Easy interfacing between C code and assembler.

  * Fullscreen debugger for most machines as a linkable module.

  * Full sourcecode available as well as binaries for

        - Linux (RedHat 5.x RPM)
        - OS/2
        - DOS
        - Windows 95/98/NT

What is new in this version:

  * Several bugs fixed.

  * Several new bugs introduced.

  * Faster and shorter code.

  * New compile and link utility that may be used instead of the naked
    compiler/assembler for more convenience.

  * Predefined macro packages in the assembler.

  * New compiler features: Old style (K&R) functions are now supported,
the #if preprocessor command does correct macro expansions and more.

  * Experimental port of Craig Bruces Swiftlink RS232 library.

Support for some features is still missing. To name a few:

  * No floats.

  * No file routines. Actually, most stdio routines are there, but the
low level file I/O is missing, so you get linker errors if you try to
    use them with files.

  * The 80 column mode on the C128 is not supported by the conio library.

  * ACE is no longer supported. The old code is still there, but I had
not the time to keep it current.

More information:

For your convenience, I've put all doc files also on the web server:

    http://www.von-bassewitz.de/uz/cc65/doc/

The cc65 main page

    http://www.von-bassewitz.de/uz/cc65/

will get updated to reflect the new version in the next few days.

There is also a cc65 mailing list. To subscribe, send a mail to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] with the command

    subscribe cc65

in the body of the mail.

Help:

Any help is appreciated! There are still areas, where the package is
incomplete, expecially when it comes to the libraries. If you think about
investing some time, here's a todo list:

  * File routines for the CBM systems are still missing. The C library
uses a layered approach, so there are only 4 routines needed to get
most of the higher level stuff up and running. All that is needed are
    C compatible open/close/read/write functions.

  * Support for the 80 column mode on the C128.

  * Support for ACE or other systems (VIC20, PET, even an Apple or Atari
    version shouldn't be too difficult).

  * A graphics library. The Plus/4 has a 320*200 mode that is very
compatible the C64 and C128. With some clever programming it should
be possible to write something that translates for all three
    platforms without changes.

Available packages:

As usual I will provide the complete sources and several binary packages
binaries. There's a binary RPM for RedHat which is probably the fastest
way to get going if you're running RedHat Linux. Since this is also my
development platform, new features and bug fixes are first available for
Linux.

Binaries for DOS, OS/2 and Windows will follow or may already be
available at the time you read this.

MultiMail is a free, open source (GPL) offline mail packet reader for
Unix, DOS (386+), OS/2 and Win32. It currently supports the Blue Wave and
QWK formats. It has a full screen, color user interface, built with the
curses library.

The MultiMail home page is:

 http://www.clark.net/~wmcbrine/multimail.html

Alternately, you can get it via FTP:

 ftp://ftp.clark.net/pub/wmcbrine/bbs/offline/

Binaries for several platforms are available, along with the source code.
Sorry, no official Fidonet addresses at this time.

What's New in version 0.27?
- ---------------------------

 * QWK reply packets were incompatible with some doors
 * MS-DOS version was incompatible with non-FPU machines
 * Other minor changes

[ This message is in dutch, since the install-party is in the Netherlands.
If you don't speak dutch, and would like to know more about it, drop
me an email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] ]

Bas Vermeulen, Eventman NLLGG.
