Psprint is a small utility that allows you to print selected pages from a
postscript document.
You can select a range of pages, or only odd or even pages, and print in
reverse order.
Great for printing both-sided a document that in you received in raw
postscript (save the trees!)
Psprint is a command line utility, but there is a tcl/Tk interface for those
who'd rather click than type.
Psprint can be downloaded from Adalog's software components page, at
http://pro.wanadoo.fr/adalog
License is Adalog's "advertizeware" license, i.e. you can do what you want
with it, provided you don't remove the small add for Adalog in the source
and the documentation.
As usual, all feedback is welcome.

LINUX C PROGRAMMING LISTS
The Linux C Programming Lists now officially exist. They will be
archived on-line and also via majordomo. The Linux C Programming Lists
aim to help people programming linux with C. Hopefully no question will
be too simple nor too difficult for someone on the list to answer. For
anyone learning how to program linux with C these lists will be a
valuable resource to help you in your learning.
The two existing lists now resend all mail to each other. This means
that members of one list will not miss out from the input or output of
the members from the other list. Whilst I acknowledge that this could
cause a little confusion, you need only join one list. You now should
not need to join both to get an appropriate answer to your query.
David Lloyd has agreed to host a common home page for the linux c
programming lists. It is at
http://users.senet.com.au/~lloy0076/linux_c_programming/index.html
The easiest way to become a member of the (dual) lists is to email
listbot.com like this:
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
The URL of the online archives is:
http://www.listbot.com/archive/linuxCprogramming
In two days since our first tentative announcements, David Lloyd
estimates there are approximately 40 people who are members one (or
both) of the lists.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Stable release 0.2.2 of the Linux Console Tools is now available from
http://www.multimania.com/ydirson/soft/lct/.
Here are the release informations:
This is release 0.2.2 of the Linux console-tools.
This release is a bugfix release for 0.2.1, and additionnaly
includes russian and german messages. See ChangeLog for details.
0.2.0 was the first of a stable branch. The data files (keymaps,
fonts and tables) formerly part of this package have been moved to a
new console-data package.
The 0.2.x branch will only get bug fixes and critically missing
features - all development will be done on the still-to-come 0.3.x
branch.
PLEASE NOTE that this release has not yet support for the CP
fontfile format back yet. It has been integrated in development
version 0.3.0.
Although it is now quite stable, this package is currently under
development: use it at your own risks. However, it should already be
a good replacement for `kbd', and you might like the features not
found in the latter, but (as usual) you have NO WARANTY of any kind.
Some interface-level features are still liable to change (program names,
option names, etc.).
Much work is needed to really get Unicode stuff usable. This will be
one of my primary goals. It will probably imply hacking the kernel as
well for some features, but the kernel-part is being thoroughly
rewritten by the GGI project, so don't hold you breath...
This package is based on `kbd-0.94', and is mostly up to date with
0.99, of which it corrects some bugs, and to which it adds several
features (Message i18n, Screen-font-map fallback tables, 16-bit
Application-Charset Maps (also called "console maps" or "screen
maps"), can now output PSF files and use "-" to read/write most files
to stdin/stdout, can make use of the G1 charset slot, etc.).
Please send all bug reports, suggestions, or anything else to myself,
(but take a look at the "TODO" file first), feedback will be greatly
appreciated.
Please get in touch with me before starting to modify this package, to
prevent duplicated work - it's enough work to keep in sync with new
kbd releases until we merge; as this code is expected to evolve quite
rapidly, it would also be helpful that not too many persons work on
the same pieces of code at the same time, to ease integration.

Subject: environment modules for Linux
Date: Thu, 2 Sep 1999 19:35:08 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Announcing the availability of environment modules for Linux.
If you run on SGI/Crays or many university workstation farms
then you may be familiar with "modules". If you don't hate them
then you probably love them.
Environment modules allows you to have different versions of
compilers & applications available simultaneously and to stop
using /usr/local/bin as a collect-all dump for every stray executable.
As an example: If I need to look at a webpage with an earlier version
of Netscape I would do something like this:
$ module load netscape/301
$ netscape &
and if I want to use a later version then I would do this:
$ module swap netscape/301 netscape/451c
$ netscape &
Of course this relies on properly crafted modulefiles and segregated
binaries.
Environment modules really provides an easy way to modify your
environment variables (e.g. PATH, MANPATH, etc.) on the fly, which
is a lot easier than trying to change your dot files.
I have taken the 3.0beta sources from ftp.modules.org, fixed
the collection of obvious bugs, added the features to the
code the documentation claimed it had, and generally ported it
to the Linux environment.
Read the INSTALL document, which describes a pedestrian approach
to enabling environment modules.
I have included several scripts and examples to help things along.
However, you should be fairly adept as a system administrator.
Send comments & worthy questions to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
(If your questions can be handled by reading the documents
then I'll just respond with RTFM.)
R.K. Owen, Ph.D.

Title: modules
Version: 3.0.0-rko
Entered-date: 11Aug1999
Description: The Modules package provides for the dynamic modification of
a user's environment via modulefiles.
Each modulefile contains the information needed to
configure the shell for an application. Once the Modules
package is initialized, the environment can be modified on
a per-module basis using the module command which
interprets modulefiles. Typically modulefiles instruct
the module command to alter or set shell environment
variables such as PATH, MANPATH, etc. modulefiles may be
shared by many users on a system and users may have their
own collection to supplement or replace the shared
modulefiles.
The modules environment is common on SGI/Crays and many
workstation farms.

Platforms: Unix, ANSI-C, Tcl 8.0.x

Nowadays, Linux OS is used widely for server or desktop. Thus, it's security
power is also important. Although other unix OS provide audit data, Linux
OS can't give us them, because there is no function related to that. So, I
hope there is audit data generator in Linux OS and develop alpha version.
It can provide only several log informations related to the system functions
and network. But, I will expand their functions and usage. If you are
interested in this project or audit data in Linux OS, visit this homepage.
