Hi Rene:
if you installed atapi devices in your pc, you may not disable ide support
for linux kernel. You must recompile kernel enabling ide atapi support.
(be carefull, in the make list appear the cdrom atapi option, before you
need to enable ide atapi support too).
for your cd writer,(if it cames whith a pc card) you need a driver in
order to manage it under linux.
if your cd writer is scsi, also, you have to recompile kernel to
enable scsi support and a driver to play it under linux. in linuxjournal
issue january 98, you will find an excellent article about cdwriter
x-cd roast cd writer sotfware.
please, let me know when you get fix it. i wanted an ide cdwriter too
:)
