There is 2 popular mail servers: it is sendmail and qmail. If your LAN
is not very big I'll suggest you to use qmail (http://www.qmail.org).
But if it's large enough and you are planning to coonect to Internet
it's better to use Sendmail (http://www.sendmail.org), but you should
know that sometimes it's not enough secure and difficult for
configuration.
