Hi Hrach,
Here's what I do to connect two machines with ppp.
1) Edit your /etc/hosts /etc/... to configure your network. Please
read "Linux Network Administrator's Guide" to learn how to do it)
2) Try to connect with a null-modem (just connect pin 2,3, and 7 of RS-232
cable, with pins 2 and 3 reversed) first. Let modem connections for the
future, :) after is passed the test.
3) use the following to start in each machine:
"master" side:
pppd /dev/cua0 115200 -crtscts 192.168.97.1: local passive
"slave" side:
pppd /dev/cua1 115200 -crtscts local passive defaultroute
Please substitute /dev/cuaX for the device you're using in each machine.
The number: 192.168.97.1 is the "IP address" for the master machine.
Notice that master and slave are only two machines. It's addresses are
192.168.97.1 and 192.168.97.2 (refer to the book above to see why those
addresses was chosen).
4) Use "ping <machine-name>" to see if the other side is answering :)
