More intelligent it may be, but:
a) expecting other people to be intelligent is usually an exercise in
futility;
b) this was only one example. there may be other cases where one needs to
view Word documents;
c) IIRC richtext does not support all the features of Word;
d) the person who e-mailed obviously has his reasons for wanting a word
document reader. they are, for better or worse, common--I've even seen them
on web sites. your answer does very little to address that problem. asking
others to change for you is not going to work.
