I have discovered a shortcoming with the way ghostscript (3.33 and 4.03)
handles the printing of encapsulated postscript files... it doesn't seem to
create any preamble that is valid to make it print properly. In fact, it
doesn't print at all!

Most of these eps files are created from xfig, and are intended to be
eventually used within latex documents... no problem with that - this works
well. But I want to be able to print them on their own (eg, for
development purposes).

The kludge that I'm currently using is having mpage do the "wrapping"...
the result isn't perfect (eg, page position is bad, the edges are
"trimmed", no control over size or scaling, etc), but at least I can get
hardcopy.

What I am looking for is a short postscript preample that can used to get
some control over the printing of these things. For example, have easily
modifyable parameters in there to define the page size (we use A4 here) and
the size, scaling, and position of the eps.

I'm sure that such a beast exists... in fact there's probably a massive
tribe of these things out there somewhere! :) Anyone got any idea of
where they know I can find what I'm looking for?

Many thanks.

Cheers
Tony
