I just compiled 2.2.1 kernel. Most thing seem OK. However when I try to start an xterm I get the following error message: xterm : no available ptys I made sure that the "Unix98 PTY" option was set to "no" in the config (make xconfig) but still I can't get xterm to run. Virtual terminals are all fine. Can someone please tell me what went wrong and what I need to do to fix it. The system is based on the Slackware filesystem structure if that helps narrow things.
