I am having some difficulty in getting satisfactory RPM compliance on my
Slackware 3.5. I have installed the rpm executable, as well as cpio, and
rpm2cpio. I routinely use Midnight Commander to manage rpm's and tgz
files. I can view the table of contents of an rpm, but not much else.

I get an error msg from mc regarding not being able to open the desired
file when I try to view or copy it to a directory. I had this working
some time ago on a different slakware installation, but can't seem to get
it working on this machine. Do you remember what steps you had to go
through to get it working?
