I've downloaded the IRMP3, and have installed it successfully on my machine
(using an animax remote).
The problem now is that the logfile is a bit boring if you'd like to present
the data on-screen (eg. on TV or something). (Of course with TV-out from the
PC).
I'm planning to make a GUI to sort all my mp3's and make it possible to to
select by artist/album/title which files to play (one could just make
playlist). But to do this I need to know hov to get the codes irmp3 emits.
Do you have some sort of API, named pipes, sockets, something...? Any clues.
I think tail -f'ing a logfile, and updating a GUI based on that is a bit
"newbish". :) Does mpg123 have a easy-to-understand API for this?
Have anybody got any good links to visual programming utilities for linux?
Preferably in perl. I'm not sure if I'm going to use GTK or QT. Which is
easier?
And where does ESD land in this peculiar setup? I use gatos to control my
ati tv-tuner card, and afaik, it uses /dev/dsp (not esd). Any smart clues?
a bit off-topic though: what is the window name of xatitv? isn't it normal
to use xwininfo to grab the window name? But the name is not persistent (it
changes according to which channel I'm looking on.
If people think it's a bit off-topic to discuss multimedia-home-systems on
this list, I could make a list to discuss this kind of things? Anybody
interested?
And finally: Is GGI interesting for this?
