I think you'd better off trying both of them and learning for yourself. The
both are very alike and the only minor difference I found is that Gnome apps
(graphical ones) seem to take more desktop space then they should. If you
plan to write some apps by yourself, you better off with KDE since it's Qt
library is much friendlier then Gnome tools.
